Me and my family are going to do the push up challenge together..me and my wife are 40+ son 14 daughter 15....any of you guys have any tips

cool we actually do push-up athons and kick-athons for fundraising for our students to be able to buy gear they can't afford or tournaments they normally wouldn't be able to attend. tom i appreciate your attitude. you have the i "can" that all martial artist should have

Well, congradulations Mr. Galloway for obtaining the arrangement of spending all your time at the dojang. I'd been thinking of an event that schools like yours can attend. How about a challenge of 1000 pushups in one hour, or something like 50 pushups every three minutes till 1000? A fund raiser for a charity in your local area.

i have a great opportunity to get started i thank all of you who are trying and there is no reason to give yourself an excuse. anyone and everyone can do it. once you give an excuse you are giving up on yourself. thats not what this club was made for. to come and place comments of what you CAN'T do and why you CAN'T do it. yes i'm young and i live at the dojang but it works for me it can work for you.

Good for you, Tom. It is good to vary your routine and not do the same thing day after day. It is also good to take a day off now and then. It is not good to always go to failure when you exercise, as this is not good for your central nerve system, and will be counterproductive to your progress in the long run. We must make our exercise more like play, make it fun, like when we were kids. We would play, rest when we were tired, and didn't push ourselves to the limit. Variety is the spice of life. Take it from an old guy who has learned things the hard way. Take it easy, it's the way to go. I have cut my pushup totals way back. I do one set, as many as I can do until I am tired, but short of failure. Then I do my second set, doing half as many reps as my first set. I do a third set, doing half as many reps as I did in the second set. I am exercising for good health and functional fitness now, so building up huge rep totals is no longer my goal whatsoever. Good luck in your training.
