TIP OF THE WEEK
DAY END – CASH OUT

A Cash Out is used to manage your cash, checks, and credit card transactions and to “balance” your deposit sheet with any overages or shortages.

What you need before completing your cash out:

• MAS Transaction Report by date.

• Cash Float – this is the cash that will be in your till at all times used for making change for your daily cash transactions. Your cash float should always be the same amount unless you are decreasing or increasing the float.

• Count your cash sales, checks and credit card slips to ensure the amounts balance with the totals on the transaction report.
Cash Out

1. In MAS click on File, Day End, Cash Out

2. Print the Transaction Report

3. Remove all cash in the cash register and replace your cash float. (ie. If you have $244.89 in your cash register and your cash float is $100, then place $100 back in the cash register and you have$144.89 in cash sales)

4. Add up the remaining cash, checks and credit card statements you have to ensure they balance with the transaction report. (the totals can be found on the last page of the transaction report)

5. If the amounts do not balance review your transaction report to ensure that a transaction was not completed with the incorrect payment method. (if you sold a t-shirt for $20 in cash but they paid by check)

6. If there are any errors you will need to correct them before completing the cash out so your numbers balance.

7. Once all numbers balance you can continue with the cash out. On the deposit slip you will enter all cash you are depositing to the bank on the right hand side and all checks should automatically be displayed on the left hand side of the deposit slip. There will be a total amount on the bottom right hand side of the deposit slip which will total your cash and check sales. Select the bank you are depositing the funds to and click the complete button.

8. The last page of the cash out is the day end sheet; this page is where you enter your cash float and will also summarize your cash out with cash and check totals. Click OK to complete the cash out.

Mas will not let me cash out which I need to do to access some reports. I follow the procedure for cash out but after saying 'yes' to 'do you want to see the transaction report?' a window comes up that says 'access denied'. Can you help? I cannot find the answer anywhere.
