Permalink Reply by Sensei Nick on September 2, 2010 at 7:44am We are a small school. Just 1200 sq. ft. in total. We had 18 new students this months which for us is huge for us. We normally get four or five new students in August. If September is this good we will be very happy.
Permalink Reply by Sensei Nick on September 2, 2010 at 7:45am We opened on July 12th with zero students, and by September 1st were @ 30 students with practically no money spent on advertising! Hope September is just as good as August!

Permalink Reply by Sensei Nick on September 2, 2010 at 2:59pm We are also a small school 1,800 sq ft. Our enrollment was 18! Our normal is about 5-8 in any month, so this was a large jump. I don't know what to credit it too as we reduced our printed marketing, but we did make the cover of the local area newspaper for a Demo we did in July.

Permalink Reply by Sensei Nick on September 3, 2010 at 5:08pm We are an average size school 4000 sq ft. We enrolled 50 new students this month due to regular marketing and School marketing (Meet the Teacher night & mass intro's). We usually try to hit 20 new students a month, so this was a BIG month for us.
Permalink Reply by Sensei Nick on September 3, 2010 at 5:10pm I focus on excellent customer service, i.e. I listen to what a prospective student wants and then show them how we can help them achieve that goal rather then just telling them what I have. Now, granted I am in a plaza with high visibility, but we are a small school only 1300 sqf, and I think people like that. I also focus on giving my students quality instruction and not just on moving them through the belt system. A lot of parents say they chose us because of this. I offer a free week and a 30 day money back guarantee. We also have a wide variety of classes including Ninjustu, Samurai Jujutsu, Tai Chi, Filipino Martial Arts, and Jeet Kune Do, so there is something for everybody. People who can afford my classes are feeling more confident that they won't get laid off, as opposed to last year when no one really knew the nature of the economic downturn. All of these factors are probably contributing to our success, but I think he biggest factor is that I love to help my student realize their goals, and when you love something you give 100 percent all the time, which is bound to overcome any other shortcomings.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
